Crompton Greaves is India's largest private sector enterprise in the business of manufacturing and marketing products related to the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of power. In addition, Crompton Greaves is a household name because of their popular products likes fans, light bulbs and tubelights.
Business Challenge - Managing Web Content
Providing a comprehensive Web Content Management Solution to manage the Crompton Greaves website posed the following challenges:
A: Being a large corporation with very diverse offerings ranging from industrial power generation solutions to consumer products like fans and lights, Crompton Greaves had several websites catering to individual business groups. The information silos created by the individual websites resulted in following challenges:

B: Since the existing sites were static HTML pages, managing the site required services (and valuable time) of the IT staff in addition to the content creators.
C: Consolidating all information into one comprehensive website imposed a significant information architectural challenge since now the website would cater to users with very diverse interests. Customers and other end users would need to reach the information of their interest quickly and efficiently.
D: Migration of a large amount of existing legacy data in the form of HTML web pages, MS Excel Sheets, PDF documents into the new system and providing a consistent look-n-feel to it.
Our Solution - Activesite (Web CMS)
In their search for a creative and savvy strategic eBusiness resource, Crompton Greaves recognized Auriga Logic for their proven ability to bring innovative technology to their clients. In addition, Auriga Logic introduced Crompton Greaves to Mudra Communications, a strategic partner and leader in the development of internet branding strategies.
Together, Auriga Logic and Mudra joined Crompton Greaves' IT team to formulate a strategy for this initiative. Legacy data had to be collected from several business units spread across India. Individual objectives of various departments had to be considered and integrated into a unified solution.
Auriga Logic deployed Activesite, it's Content Management System (CMS) to aid in the development and management of the website. A major challenge that still existed was the migration of legacy data. To handle this, custom integration modules were developed that allowed bulk migration of data (mainly products' technical specifications) from excel sheets into the CMS.
Since Activesite was completely developed in house by Auriga Logic customizations could be carried out rapidly and within the budget.
The Final Result
The project was completed in 6 months and within the budget. Now Crompton Greaves has a single consistent interface to communicate with their customers.
